Shop Diorama
My little book or curiosity shop dioramas were designed in the vein of a Twilight Zone mystery in which
you come across a little shop in the middle of nowhere and find that it contains a trunk filled with your
personal belongings...photos, letters, documents etc...and there appears to be no plausible
explanation for it being there...or is there????
Have a fabulous one of a kind personalised miniature shop made to order . Upload up to 20
photographs, 10 documents you feel comfortable sharing and three photos you would like turned into
miniature canvas. Made in 1:12 scale these tiny shops have been designed to be completely
personalised with your photos, documents, choice of engraved shop name and image choice for the
included miniature canvas wall art and a-frame advertising board. Choose from three backdrops which
will cover the walls inside the shop. Choose your stain colour for the front door, floorboards, sign and
accessories. Inside the shop have a tiled floor or floorboards. Choose between two colours for your
hand cast cobblestones. Choose between three colours of climbing rose for the front door. There are
two colour choices available for the stone block effect steps.
Book shop or Old Curiosity Shop....the choice is yours.
Finding yourself on a lonely street at the far side of town you stumble upon a small
cobble-fronted shop. It seems strangely inviting. You head towards it, unsettled,
wondering why there seems to be no one else about. Tentatively pushing the front
door it swings ajar. You take one step, two steps and then to your disbelief ..........
My book shop is called Camus Corner and it is filled with photos, books, letters, manuscripts and
documents pertaining or belonging to the superb absurdist/existentialist Albert Camus. The shop has
been made from a wooden box resembling a pile of three books. The front of the box itself opens
and this I have cut to fit a front door with a window and pediment. The stain colour I have chosen for
this diorama is cedar. A gold coloured handle with a keyhole adorns either side of the door. Open the
door to reveal the inside which will either be a book shop/ library or an old curiosity shop. I have one book shop backdrop and two
curiosity shop backdrops to choose from. I have chosen wide cedar wooden floorboards for the book shop option. The first curiosity
shop has a hand cast fancy tiled floor painted in beige/ brown tones and the second shop has thin grey brown wooden floorboards with
nail holes which have been placed to line up with the boards in the backdrop. One working light hangs from the ceiling which may vary
in style depending upon availability. There is a key on a ring hanging on the wall beside the door. The book shop has a low set of
shelves upon which I have placed many books including 6 Albert Camus books...not printed inside. There is also a Philosophy Now
magazine cover on the shelf. On the floor is a brown faux leather trunk which contains a ”photo album” with AC on the front (the larger
album with the photograph card pages is the album that will be included)in which I have placed 5 family
photos of Camus, another 5 loose photos, a few letters, fragments and documents on which Camus has
written, a fake identity card and the front of a newspaper declaring that Camus has died. Your shop will
come with a photo album. The documents can be read with a magnifier. My a-frame shop sign has the
newspaper page of his death attached to either side.
The Old Curiosity Shop, instead of a book shelf, includes a resin or wooden chair which may vary in style
from shop to shop. The trunk and printed contents are included with either option. One of the metal signs
shown has The Old Curiosity Shop engraved on it. There is an a-frame sign to match this shop and I
made an additional sign to demonstrate the personalised nature of these shops. The name on this one if
Jacquelines Emporium to which I added my own text , graphics and colours.
On the outside of the shop beautiful roses climb over the shop door. Choose from pink, lilac or red.
Attached to the side of the shop is an old fashioned black metal shop sign. These will be engraved with
your choice of shop name. No more than four words please. One sample has been engraved Camus
Corner and the other The Old Curiosity Shop. Two steps with a stone block effect finish and a black faux
iron railing on either side are removeable from the front of the shop to enable the main door to be
opened. Both the bookshop and old curiosity shop styles will include a wooden crate. One is filled with
assorted books, the other with assorted miniatures both of which
will vary slightly. Also included in both is a black metal bicycle
which leans against the right side of the shop. On the left side
will be your three personalised canvas prints. Your choices will
be printed on 100% cotton canvas and then attached to a
wooden backing board. Sizes will vary. To personalise your shop
a little more upload your chosen image or text ( portrait aspect
please) and I will turn it into a double sided fully laminated
wooden a-frame sign. The top of the sign has a wood trim
adorned with brass caps. Finally, your shop and contents will sit
on a lovely wooden framed board covered in cobblestones. The
style of the board edging will vary. It takes a large amount of casts to make the pavement area
but the effect is well worthwhile. This will be painted in your choice of either brown or grey
tones.
The size of the shop is 26cm h 15cm w and 10cm d . The base measures 30cm w and 25cm d.
The base size may vary a little.
This is a small but unique and very lovely personalised miniature which would fit easily into any
